Look After Your Boots!!

It is so important to look after your walking boots and it is best to start treating your brand new boots with Nikwax after your first walk.

If you wear them regularly and they are getting wet then drying out every day (I'm talking to the dog walkers here) then you need to treat them every month.

These water based solutions work brilliantly. They stop boots from getting heavy and waterlogged, and they nourish the leather keeping it healthy and stopping it from drying out and cracking. They don’t clog up the pores in leather like waxes do so boots breathe much better keeping your feet more comfortable.

It provides instant Durable Water Repellency (DWR), maintains breathability and replenishes tanning agents in the leather.

It is non-flammable, contains no harmful solvents and is free of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and fluorocarbons.

The WaterBased formulation is directed to leaks, can be used on wet or dry leather and will not over-soften.

We think it is best to use Nikwax Fabric & Leather on wet boots straight away when you come in from your walk.

Take out the laces and clean the boots in the sink and when they are still wet apply the wax.

Give the Nikwax Fabric & Leather a good shake first then spray it to the boots. Using your finger work the solution into the leather all over, paying special attention to the flex point as this is where the leather gets the most movement and needs the most looking after. Make sure you treat the bellows on the side of the tongue and round the cuff inside and out. Go over all the leather and the fabric panels.

Leave them for an hour then go over them again same as before. As this is a water based solution and leather is porous the leather will keep sucking in the Fabric & Leather until it is done. If your boots are really dry and desperate for some love you may need to do this a few times.

If you wear your boots regularly and they are getting wet then drying out every day (I'm talking to the dog walkers here) then you need to treat them every month.

If you are an occaisional walker please still treat them at least a couple of times a year or the leather will just dry out and crack and the sole unit will come away and you will have wasted your money on those lovely boots.
